Humour Links

This page contains a number of humour and comedy links for TV and radio comedy, with a few links for humourous authors and general humour sites. All the TV and radio links are for British comedy programs, most of which were first broadcast by the BBC. (I've included Douglas Adams and Hitch-hiker's Guide on the Sci-Fi Page.)

• LILEKS - the best I can come up with is "historical surrealism". Better descriptions gratefully received...
• The Institute of Official Cheer - part of the LILEKS site, with more of the same...
• The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest - describes itself as "a whimsical literary competition that challenges entrants to compose the opening sentence to the worst of all possible novels".
• The Lyttle Lytton Content - the same idea as Bulwer-Lytton, except you only get 25 words!
• The Best of British - "The American's guide to speaking British..." Does contain a few slightly naughty bits.
• Funny2.com - a large collection of jokes.
• Tina's Humour Archives - some bits not suitable for children.
• The Rec.Humor.Funny Archives - some of this is definitely not suitable for children.
• Dribbleglass - not really suitable for children.
• Error message - read very carefully! Now you can also buy the T-shirt!
• The Rockall Times - satirical on-line newspaper, can get very rude and isn't for children...
• Toxic Custard - again, some possibly offensive content.
• The Secret Diaries of Cassandra Claire - with apologies to the Lord of the Rings! Not really suitable for children, as it contains gratuitous Hobbit fancying and the Horn of Gondor.
• The Gallery of False Advertising - a parody site. Some of the parody adverts are not suitable for children.
• The Onion - self-described as "America's Finest News Source". Not intended for the under-18s.
• Purity Tests - unsuitable for children. Most of the tests use checkboxes, so you can get your score generated automatically.
• The Unisex Omnisexual Purity Test - not for children. This one will also automatically generate your score.
• Downloadable Purity Tests - stored in a TARed and Gziped format, suitable for UNIX and Linux, but can be read by Winzip on PCs. Unsuitable for children. A direct link to part of the site above.
• Fun Latin - a selection of odd Latin phrases.
• Handy Latin Phrases - and a second.
• Slightly Less Common Latin Phrases - and a third.
• M-LAW's Wacky Warning Labels - things like packs of airline peanuts which have labels saying "may contain nuts".
• UK Department of Social Scrutiny - political satire and humour site, set up as a parody of the old UK Department of Social Security site. May not be suitable for children.
